Strangest Words

fuckingperfectgirls:

I don’t understand the recent obsession with 666 and Satan and upside down cross’s. 666 isn’t the number of the devil and an upside down cross is actually one of the holiest symbols in the world. 616 is the actual number of the beast/devil. Hipsters should research stuff before they start fantasizing about it just because they think it’s cool. It really amuses me how people associate an upside down cross with satanism. It’s hilariously inaccurate. What most people don’t seem to realize is that the upside down cross is actually a revered christian symbol, and is called the Cross of St. Peter. It’s called that because Peter did not think he was worthy to be killed the same way that Jesus did, and asked to be crucified upside down. The reason the upside down cross exists and is on the papal chair is because of St. Peter. St. Peter was being sentence to death and said that he was not worthy to be crucified like Christ was, so he was crucified upside down. The Pope, being the successor of Peter, and the inverted cross is the symbol of St. Peter, the inverted cross is presented on many christian things. This does not mean it is anti-christian, but rather associated with the humility and unworthiness compared to Christ. So no, the pope isn’t anti-christian, nor is the inverted cross a sign of anti-religion, or anti-christianism. Thus, an upside down cross is actually considered a sign of humility and in some really old-school organizations, is actually preferred for people to wear around their necks rather than crosses. So, if you’re gonna be all rebellious and edgy and cool and “lol666”.You might want to double check before getting this tattooed on your neck.Peter was crucified on an upside down cross, in respect, because he didn’t feel worthy to be crucified the same way as Christ.Educate Yourself.

As an atheist, I agree with all of this. People who use these symbols as an anti-Christian/devil thing….you obviously don’t even know diddly about Christianity, and it makes the rest of us who actually do know quite a bit about religion and do our research before choosing a life of informed non-religion look bad, because we get associated with you assholes.
